You can still be mad with Obama, even though he inhereted a mess

Popular rhetoric I have witnessed quite often is this: since Obama inherited a mess, one can either not be angry with him/be nearly as angry with him.

For me, this approach is both logically unsound, and an example of not supporting dissent. One should not, and should not have, expected Obama to fix the economy and the numerous other problems inherited from the Bush administration, but one can still examine his decisions and feel they are negative/counter productive. Dissent is a must in a democratic society; without dissent the powers that be have much more free reign, as well as a more ignorant mass of citizens.

I dislike Obama and would not vote for him in 2012 if I were an American citizen.

President Obama has kept the war on terror alive. The military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq show little signs of slowing down, and an invasion was launched against Libya, with rebel troops with Al-Qaeda connections being supported by American forces. He also has failed to close Guantanamo Bay, which houses not only “terrorists” but simple freedom fighters fighting against the illegally invading American empire.

The war on terror has evidently spread into the borders of America, with rights, liberties, and freedoms experiencing a decline since September 11th. Obama has strengthened the police state, and has made clear he is similar to Bush in terms of inner “security”. For example, Obama voted for the Foreign Intelligence Service Act, which allows for heightened surveillance, and recently supported the May 26th renewal of the Patriot Act.

Obama claimed that he would have a transparent government not controlled by lobbyists, but he currently has over 40 lobbyists within his administration. Lobbyists promote the slow move towards fascism, the combination of the market and state, and take importance over everyday citizens.

In addition, Obama supported the Office of Faith Based Initiatives, which directly conflicts with the separation of the church and state. The defecit has skyrocketed. He hired someone to a position to deal with unfavorable media, which not only aids him in his chances of re-election, but points towards increasing the use of government shills. Finally, he has pushed for S. 679, which will reduce the number of positions requiring Senate confirmation.

In all honesty, Obama is very similar to Bush, which I, and you, should feel is a bad thing.

Indiana Citizens Take Back 4th Amendment

Boy, am I ever proud of the citizens of Indiana! Since 9/11 the rights, liberties, and freedoms of Americans have been under attack/lessened, with a recent example being the fresh passing of the Patriot Act. Americans should not sit back and allow this to happen, and I applaud the citizens of Indiana for fighting for what is right!
